TWITS #72

Yooo, it’s Jaisal. Welcome back to This Week in Tiny Startups #72.

My apologies for missing last week’s issue. I’ve found it hard to keep up with my routines while I travel. Hoping to get back into a regular groove with this.

In the meantime, I’m giving away a few sponsor slots for August/September at 50% off. Reach out if you’re interested in promoting your startup in-front of 17k+ founders and indie hackers 🤟

Launchpad 🚀

We’ve got 12 kick-ass founders launching their projects on Tiny Startups.

Check it out and support your favourites :)

$300k with a simple Javascript library

Sachin runs lightGallery, a lightweight JavaScript image and video lightbox gallery plugin, and just crossed $300k in total revenue 3 years after launch. Incredible stuff!

Kourosh hit £1k MRR

Kourosh just hit £1k MRR (around ~$1,342 USD) with Voicy (shared above), an AI-powered speech-to-text software.

Jed sold his startup for $100k

Jed just sold RateMyDorm, a dorm rating website where you could share real, honest dorm reviews. It was acquired by Jenni AI (an academic writing AI app) for $100k. Looks like they’ll use this as a lead generation tool to reach their ~500k yearly users and hopefully convert a few % to paying customers.

David (founder of Jenni AI) shares a useful breakdown of the deal below and the reasons behind the acquisition…

Dan hit $87k MRR with Every

Every (shared above) is a newsletter + software company that publishes a daily newsletter about what comes next in technology. Dan was recently featured on Lenny’s Postcast that gave them a nice revenue boost.

Every costs $30 per month or $288 per year and gives you unlimited access to their daily newsletter and archive, along with different software products they’ve built. A super interesting business model and one that clearly seems to be working.
